Portrait of one of the most relevant artists of Asturias, Alejandro Lafuente, Lafu for his many friends. Guitar teacher at the Candás School of Music, director of the Candás International Jazz Week, great guitarist, has played with countless bands and is the partner, not only on stage, of Rebeca Velasco (my dearest sister). A duo, Lafu and Rebeca, who have gotten their song “Les sombres sobre la yerba” the 2019 Best Song Award.
All the residents of the Old Town know him because he is always there to help the Oviedo Redondo Association, giving away equipment, setting up infrastructure, always pushing. I have little to tell my musician friends about Lafu that they don't know.
I have painted this oil portrait based on a detail of a photograph by Diego Rai (I take this opportunity to thank him for such a suggestive image). I have tried to paint what is not seen, the music, through the feeling of this guitarist who expresses the emotion of the moment with his face. It has been a prodigious journey. Lafu, thanks for your music. Friend. This portrait will be part of an exhibition of which I will give you more details as the date approaches.
