When this project was proposed to me, as a neighbor and visual artist, I had been speculating for years about the possibility of contributing art and color to a building of great architectural value. So I started to think about what would be most suitable for this building with the historical relevance it already had as a building associated with travel as a former bus station.
I thought that the best way to provide added value to this community would be to build, floor by floor, a journey through what is, for me, the most beautiful city in the world and I immediately thought about which were the most beautiful and impressive places in the city. . I discovered that Oviedo is a city that is full of squares and no place better represents its people than its squares.
Specifically, we had 13 walls so I looked for the 13 most beautiful squares in the city. I wanted us to be able to travel through a real Oviedo inside the building but from my fantastic vision.
Each mural will represent a square. From the beginning I was clear that it should not be a realistic mural, I wanted realism and fantasy to go hand in hand in some way. That is why I decided that it was the sky that would provide the magic, integrating realism and abstraction, Classicism and modernity on the same plane. An aesthetic that lasts over time and becomes emblematic of the city.
